All across the country, the radical Left and the homosexual lobby are pushing transgender ideology. This sweeping and extraordinarily damaging ideology takes many forms but is being pushed in every segment of modern life – in the schools, throughout culture, in business, in sports and entertainment, and of course at every level of government.

We need to call this out for what it is: transgender ideology is the evil fruit of same-sex “marriage.”

The gay “marriage” movement has always been a lie. It never was about tolerance and acceptance. It wasn’t even about marriage. And it certainly is not about genuine human rights.

Same-sex “marriage” is about a political ideology based on sexual desire and attraction. It is about the abandonment of universal values and practice, the shredding of traditional norms and beliefs, and the rejection of virtually every religion known to man.

Two men or two women may possess a certificate from some government agency that says they are “married,” but are not married. They can’t be married, because marriage is now and always will be the union of a man and a woman.

Transgender ideology is similarly a lie. It advances the entirely false and fanciful notion that a person’s sex is based on “gender identity” and not biology, and that a person can “change” their sex to match their identity.

A man can consume powerful drugs and chemicals, undergo all kinds of surgeries, learn to dress and act like a woman and commit to a lifetime of drugs and chemicals to maintain that faux appearance, but he still will not be a woman. He will be a man pretending to be a woman.

Transgender ideology must be stopped, and NOM is committed to doing just that. We have a plan to take transgender ideology directly to the people via state referenda and let them vote to stop it.

NOM’s team knows how to win at the ballot box. We stopped gay “marriage” in deep-blue California by passing Proposition 8 defining marriage in the California Constitution as exclusively the union of one man and one woman. We stopped it in 2009 in Maine with a “people’s veto” that overturned gay “marriage” legislation.

We led the campaign in Iowa the following year that removed three sitting state Supreme Court Justices – including their Chief Justice – after they had ruled to impose gay “marriage” on their citizens. And then we helped lead the 2012 campaign in North Carolina that put traditional marriage in their state constitution with over 61% of the vote.

Voters don’t want to see men compete in athletics against girls. They don’t want men in intimate areas reserved for women – like showers, dressing rooms and locker rooms. They don’t want young children being told in school that they can choose their own gender or have kindergartners taught about “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.”

They don’t want radicals on the Left pushing confused oftentimes lonely kids onto a transgendersm path that too-often leads to permanent harm, including sterility and suicide. They don’t want people fired or punished over pronouns. And they certainly don’t want government officials including school teachers and administrators to advance transgender ideology in secret, keeping their agenda hidden from parents.
